The Cassowary is a flightless bird that lives in the Australian rainforest in Far-North Queensland. This bird is known to display a fiery personality with aggression at times.

In order to animate or awaken humans to the value of the rainforest for the Cassowary, Katrina has transplanted its head on to a feisty image of a female who is dressed in rainforest designs.

This portrays the bird as a part of the rainforest and the rainforest as a part of and being dependent on the Cassowary.

Additionally, the stance of the Cassowary in this painting invokes a dramatic gesture of protection for its beautiful habitat, plus a desire to portray an ‘aah haa' moment of self importance.
